The western United States is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. The deserts of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada seem so empty and uninteresting from a plane. Only when you are on the ground exploring all of the National Parks, canyons, hoodoos and bizarre rock formations, caves, slot canyons, sleepy villages, Native American historical sites and wilderness areas do you really get a sense of just how magical the desert actually is. And the light is magnificent...the quality is somehow different. Hard to explain exactly how it differs, but it is the reason artists have moved to places like Santa Fe for centuries.
